Terms of Use
Last updated 30 August 2026
Vigil123 is run by The Courtesy Collective LLC (“we,” “us”). You can reach us at info@vigil123.com.
By using Vigil123 you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use it.
1. What Vigil123 is
Vigil123 is a private, shared space where people keep prayer and vigil for someone going through something hard. It is open to every faith, and to people of none.
Vigil123 is not medical, psychological, legal, or spiritual care. It does not provide advice of any kind, and it is not a substitute for a doctor, a counsellor, a clergyperson, or emergency help. If someone is in danger or crisis, contact your local emergency services.
2. Who may use it
You must be at least 13 (or 16 in the EEA/UK). By using Vigil123 you confirm you meet that age.
3. Your account
You sign in with Google or Apple. Keep that account secure — anything done through it is treated as done by you. Tell us at info@vigil123.com if you believe someone else has used your account.
4. Creating a vigil for someone else — please read
Vigil123 lets you create a vigil about another person, including their name and their story. The person who hosts a vigil is its keeper — the word this document uses for that role throughout.
If you create a vigil for someone, you are responsible for having their permission — or a sincere, good-faith belief that they would want it. You are responsible for what you write about them, and for deciding what is theirs to share. Please write as though it will be read, because one day it may be.
The same care extends to a photo. A photo is someone’s likeness and also someone’s work: if you add one to a vigil, you are responsible for having permission to use it — from the person in it, and from whoever took it. A credit line honors the photographer; it does not replace their permission.
If a vigil exists about you and you did not agree to it, write to info@vigil123.com and we will remove it.
5. What you write
What you write stays yours. You keep ownership of your prayers, thoughts, and words.
You give us only the permission we need to run the service: to store, display, and deliver your words to the members of that vigil. Nothing more — we will not publish, sell, license, or use your words for advertising, and we will not use them to train machine-learning models.
Remember that what you offer is visible to the other members of that vigil, including its recipient, and that a keeper may remove any offering. If you sign up for a time of prayer, that time is shown to the circle under your name.
The keeper tends the circle and can see who is in it — each member’s name, when they joined, and what they have offered. That sight exists so the keeper can care for the vigil, and for no other reason.
6. How to behave here
This is a place people come to on hard days. Please do not use it to:
- harass, demean, threaten, or proselytise
- write anything about the recipient you would not say to their face
- share someone’s private information without their consent
- impersonate anyone
- post unlawful, hateful, or abusive content
- advertise, solicit, or spam
- break, probe, overload, or attempt unauthorised access to the service
7. Moderation
A keeper may remove any offering from the vigil — that acts on the offering, not on the person who gave it. A keeper may also remove a member from the circle; membership in a vigil is at the keeper’s discretion.
We may remove content or suspend access where we believe these terms have been broken, or where someone is being harmed. Where we reasonably can, we will say why.
8. Vigil123 is in early testing
Vigil123 is new and under active development. It may change, break, lose data, or become unavailable. Do not rely on it as the only record of anything you would be sad to lose.
The service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages, or for lost data, lost profits, or loss of goodwill, arising from your use of Vigil123.
Our total liability for any claim relating to Vigil123 is limited to USD $100.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
10. Ending your use
You may stop at any time, and ask us to delete your account and content at info@vigil123.com. We may suspend or end access if these terms are broken, or if we stop offering the service.
11. Changes
We may update these terms. If a change is significant we will tell vigil keepers directly and update the date above. Continuing to use Vigil123 after a change means you accept it.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Florida, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and the courts of Duval County, Florida will have jurisdiction.
